Energy in the Spotlight: State of the Union 2015

Protecting Affordable, Reliable Coal-Based Power

Tonight’s State of the Union is an opportunity for President Obama to address the American people, reflecting on the past and looking toward the future.

Unfortunately, the president’s legacy so far has included environmental regulations that drive up energy costs and put affordable, reliable coal-generated electricity in jeopardy.

We’re hopeful the president will use the State of the Union to lay out a new energy policy that creates jobs, keeps America competitive and supports a sound economy.

As ACCCE president and CEO Mike Duncan highlights in a recent Roll Call op-ed, 2015 will be a year of action on Capitol Hill, with lawmakers vowing to roll back President Obama’s overreaching, unilateral climate crusade and rein in the Environmental Protection Agency. Hopefully, President Obama will demonstrate a greater willingness to work across the aisle and find common ground with Members of Congress this year.
