    ACCCE Statement on Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) report on coal and climate change

    In response to today’s Massachusetts Institute of Technology report on coal and climate change, American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity Senior Vice President of Communications Joe Lucas released the following statement: “While we have not had an opportunity to examine the specific findings of the MIT study being released today, we strongly concur with the report’s conclusion that advanced, clean coal technologies for carbon capture and storage are among the best ways for America—and nations around the world—to address climate change concerns and provide affordable, reliable electricity.

    ACCCE Factuality Tour Highlights FutureGen in Mattoon, Illinois

    The Factuality Tour produced by the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE), has been filming all over the Central United States to demonstrate how America’s reliable electricity supply is produced from “the mine to your plug.” The most recent stop on the Factuality Tour was filmed in Mattoon, Illinois, home of the FutureGen project. The power plant will create 5000 jobs; with a significant portion of those based in the Mattoon area.

    ACCCE Factuality Tour Highlights WE Energies Pleasant Prairie Power Plant

    The Factuality Tour came to Wisconsin recently to showcase the WE Energies Pleasant Prairie Power Plant as one of the premier demonstration sites in the U.S. currently capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the use of coal for electricity. Produced by the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE), the Factuality Tour has been filming throughout the Midwest to demonstrate how America’s reliable electricity supply is produced from the “mine to plug.”

    ALEXANDRIA, Virginia – In response to the U.S. Department of Energy’s $1.4 billion for carbon capture and storage projects, ACCCE Senior Vice President of Communications Joe Lucas released the following statement: “The $1.4 billion recently made available through the Department of Energy for carbon capture and storage projects is an important first step in the allocation of funds from the recent stimulus package to be used for clean energy endeavors."

    ACCCE Statement Regarding the Midwestern Governors' Greenhouse Gas Reduction Recommendations

    ALEXANDRIA, Virginia – In response to the Midwest Governors’ Association plan for a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, ACCCE President Steve Miller released the following statement: “ACCCE agrees with the conclusion reached by the panel appointed by governors participating in the Midwest Governors Association climate change accord that controlling greenhouse gases through a federal program is a better course than imposing such mandates under individual state regimes or a regional program."

    Report Details Utilities Investment in Eliminating Air Emissions from Coal-Based Generation

    CHICAGO – The American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE) released the findings of an Energy Ventures Analysis, Inc. report today that finds that nearly $100 billion dollars have been spent to deploy clean coal technologies to reduce air emissions since 1990.
