McCain GOTV Rally & Democratic Debate
Cincinnati & Cleveland, Ohio
We started our fourth day in Ohio bright and early in Cincinnati at John McCain’s Get Out The Vote rally. The event was held at the John Hancock auditorium and the turnout was high despite the wet and cold weather.
Our Citizen Army handed out pens, literature, hats and t-shirts to the hundreds who were at the event. Both McCain supporters and protesters were eager to get their hands on the clean coal materials and to talk to us about the campaign’s mission. Our message was well received, since people here realize the importance of coal to Ohio. They repeatedly stressed the need for coal to provide affordable energy and jobs for Ohioans.
Our second Citizen Army team was able to create a huge presence at the democratic debate held at Cleveland State University. About 30 of us carried clean coal signs and banners that stressed the many different reasons why coal is crucial for Ohio. We continually drove the America’s Power van around the debate center to catch everyone’s attention — which we did, as we received tons of honks and waves.
Our clean coal advocates were energized and vocal — we even started the following chant:
“What do we need?”
“America’s Power!”
“What do we need?”
“Clean Coal!”
