Election Day!

Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio

We headed out to the polls in both the greater Cleveland and Columbus area at 7 a.m. – in all, we visited over 30 polling locations.
We staked out polling sites that were predicted to have a high voter turnout. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we were met with icy winds and monsoon-like rain.

In Cleveland, several of the anticipated high turnout locations were slow. We moved around to higher traffic sites and found several that were bustling! We ran into several local candidates, including Brendan Sheehan, who was running for Cuyahoga Pleas Judge, who said he supported our clean coal efforts. (Sheehan was leading in the ballot returns at last count.)

Many volunteers working for other candidates also sported our clean coal hats. Every voter that we met received a clean coal endorsement card and a piece of literature. We also offered voters coffee to keep them warm throughout the day.

Once the polls closed we drove the van around the crowd that was headed toward the Ohio State University basketball game. Election day in Ohio was a crazy one – but a success for clean coal.
